Zotovich Family Vineyards Syrah Grapes

Current Vintage: Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Rose! & Viognier

Grape clusters are harvested before sunrise at their coldest possible temperature to ensure that upon arrival to the winery, spontaneous fermentation has not begun.  We are especially gentle with our grapes, and aim to move our wine as little as possible to ensure that our quality remains at optimum level.  Punch downs are performed three times daily.  After the initial fermentation, wines are unless otherwise specified, inoculated with malolactic bacteria to ensure that they fully undergo malolactic fermentation prior to bottling.  

 

2012 Zotovich Family Vineyard Viognier –  Wine Club Only

  

Viognier is an incredibly aromatic grape varietal. Rather than masking those aromatics with oak, we chose to showcase the fruit by fermenting in stainless steel vessels. We chose not to undergo malolactic on the Viognier. The result is a crisp, pure expression of fruit. The 2012 Viognier is light straw gold and has juicy Asian pear, wet stone, honeysuckle and apple blossom aromas with hinted lime zest spritz. This vintage of Viognier is racy with great acidity and minerality. Ripe green melon and guava palate. This is the best Viognier we have ever made.

2010 Zotovich Family Vineyard Chardonnay

 

2010 Chardonnay grapes were whole cluster pressed, racked into neutral barrels and allowed to ferment in barrel.  Following completion of primary fermentation, wines were inoculated for malolactic fermentation - also known as "secondary fermentation". Wine was aged in French oak barrels, 40% of which were new, for 18 months.  The 10 Chardonnay displays upfront notes of light, toasty oak, Seckel pears and spritzed lime zest.  The palate of our 2010 Chardonnay is frontloaded with lemon-lime notes and sublime minerality.  The 40% new oak ferment really promotes the oak fully infusing into the wine where it perfectly balances with the perfect acidity and minerality.  Our 10 is lean, crisp, strikes a balance between fruit, minerality, oak toast, and acidity.

2012 Zotovich Family Vineyard Rosé of Pinot Noir

 

Ruby Red Grapefruit in color.  A nose of strawberries, and melon complement the first Rosé of Pinot Noir that we have ever made from our vineyard.  This wine has bright acidity on the palate with tons of red fruit.   A very pleasant addition to your bbq, this wine pairs extremely well with appetizers of any sort, spicy foods, warm weather and patio furniture.

2010 Zotovich Family Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir


Our 2010 Pinot Noir from our vineyard is the most intense, concentrated vintage of Pinot that we have ever produced. A week long heat spike starting Septmber 23rd brought our grapes to ripeness very quickly and forced us to pick our grapes as quickly as we could. We found that the heat spike concentrated the pinots from this vintage and gave us very dense, fruit driven wines. Our 2010 Estate Pinot Noir has a beautiful nose of raspberries complimented by a palate of raspberries, vanilla, and oak. This wine is medium bodies and has intense concentration with a long, oak driven finish.

2010 Reserve Pinot Noir - Wine Club Only - Sold Out

 
 This vintage of our Reserve Pinot Noir is a testament to the quality of wines produced in our cellar. Our 2010 Reseve Pinot is again comprised of 100% clone 114 and was aged in 66% new oak. This wine has even more intensity than our 2009 and will cellar for even longer. We are expecting this wine to be hitting its stride by 2016 and should last through 2020. The Reserve Pinot Noir has a dense nose, of baking spice, oak, and pepper. The palate is filled with concentrated flavors of spice, oak smoke, and dark fruit. The finish is filled with new oak tannin, smoke and it encourages another sip.

2010 Zotovich Family Vineyard Syrah

 

 Our 2010 Syrah is a shining example of why our vineyard is the perfect fit for Syrah. This wine is intense and delicate, concentrated and soft, and the perfect blance of fruit and spice. Intense notes of blueberry candy quickly give way to pepper and oak on the nose. On the palate soft tannins balance the pepper, berries, and vanilla. This is a stunning vintage for our syrah.
